Community Relations is responsible for coordinating and maintaining positive working relationships with the Tucson and Greater Pima County community, local elected and appointed officials and their staff, and community leaders. In addition to fostering collaborative partnerships, the unit is responsible for the following priorities:
- Identify local issues of interest to University administration
- Coordinate community service projects
- Develop and implement inter-institutional activities with Arizona Community College Presidents
- Promote the University as a key resource to community leaders
Tannya R. Gaxiola, MBA, Assistant Vice President for Community Relations
Tannya Gaxiola received her MBA from Harvard Business School in 2006 and a BS in finance and marketing from the UA Eller College of Management. She is the treasurer and immediate past chair of the board of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Flinn-Brown Fellow, and is the president of Tucson low-cost legal services firm, QuikHelp. Gaxiola grew up in Tucson.
