Community Relations is responsible for coordinating and maintaining positive working relationships with the Tucson and Greater Pima County community, local elected and appointed officials and their staff, and community leaders. In addition to fostering collaborative partnerships, the unit is responsible for the following priorities:
- Identify local issues of interest to university administration
- Coordinate community service projects
- Develop and implement inter-institutional activities with Arizona Community College Presidents
- Promote the university as a key resource to community leaders
Tannya R Gaxiola, M.B.A., Assistant Vice President for Community Relations
Tannya received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 2006. She is the chair of the board of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and also is the president of Tucson low-cost legal services firm, QuickHelp. Tannya grew up in Tucson and graduated from the UA Eller College of Management.
